Described by Tropicult as a “slightly surreal, dreamlike quality of the songs is without a ready comparison in music today,” Jean Jacket’s duo, Harlowe G and Kristof Ryan’s instant connection has facilitated this sort of seamless musical production, even when it’s cross-country. “We had a blast producing it in Miami, Portland and Los Angeles,” Harlowe said.
When talking about their latest album, Harlowe describes Vakation as his way of getting “back to the roots of the band.” After an experimental and abstract second album, “Thousand Lies EP,” Vakation was his method of getting back to the original Jean Jacket sound, he said. This sound is “a little more synth pop and vocals, very chorus driven.” In order to give their listeners the opportunity to fully indulge in each song of the Vakation album, Jean Jacket decided to release their songs individually, releasing the singles sporadically throughout the year, he said. The album is set to be fully released by this summer.
